Introducing Touchstone Sideline Elite ABI Electric Fireplaces with Amazon Alexa Service 

Touchstone fireplaces can now let you interact with them in the most natural way possible, by talking. Using just your voice, you can control the flame, intensity, bed color and sound of your Touchstone Fireplace. Alexa works inside the Elite fireplace, understanding and replying to commands and questions in moments. No need to pair your fireplace to your Echo, Dot, Show or any other Alexa device to control your fireplace. Alexa is already inside. 

*Voice commands only work on Touchstone Elite ABI models with Alexa Built-in.

    Setup of Sideline Elite ABI with Alexa 

    Connecting your Sideline Elite ABI to your Alexa Account 

    • Install Touchstone app as first step. This app is required for pairing your Touchstone fireplace to Alexa. You can’t add the Touchstone fireplace via “+”  button in your “Device” listing in your Alexa app.

       1. Once the Touchstone App is installed, pair your fireplace to the Touchstone app.

      2. Inside the Touchstone App, click on the Alexa button on your fireplace’s home page. This process will walk you through connecting to your Alexa account. We recommend launching your Alexa app before you begin the setup/pairing process in the Touchstone app. 

      Note: When setting up your fireplace in the Touchstone app, a generic name for the fireplace will appear in the app. We recommend changing this name to a more user/Alexa friendly name such as “fireplace”.  This is the name for your fireplace used in Alexa commands. (ie. Alexa, turn on the <fireplace name>).  To change the fireplace name, select the Setting icon in the Touchstone app and change the fireplace name. 

      Controlling other smart home devices with Sideline Elite ABI and Alexa 

      Once connected to your Alexa account via your Alexa mobile app, your Sideline Elite ABI Electric Fireplace will work like any other Echo, Dot, Show or any other Alexa device connected to your account.

      Alexa Doesn’t Understand Me 

      You need an active Wi-Fi connection for Alexa to answer your questions or process your requests. Here are some tips if Alexa does not understand your requests. 

      • Say “Hi Alexa” to the Fireplace. Does the Alexa light fireplace’s control panel activate, indicating that it heard you? 
      • Be clear 
      • Make sure there is no background noise when you speak to Alexa. 
      • Speak naturally and clearly to Alexa. 
      • Be specific 
      • Repeat your question or request. 
      • Rephrase your question or make it less general. For example, there are many cities around the world called "Paris." If you want to know the weather in Paris, France, say, "What's the weather like in Paris, France?" 
      • Make sure Alexa heard your question correctly. In the Alexa app, select Learn more at the bottom of the interaction card. You can read what Alexa heard, listen to your request, or provide feedback. 
      • For issues using a non- Touchstone device, contact the support team of the product manufacturer.

      Streaming Music Limitations/Support 

      Due to Amazon limitations, the Sideline Elite Pro ABI Electric Fireplace only supports the playback of content from the following providers: 

      • IHeartRadio – IHeart Radio playback requires no login or account setup.
      • TuneIn –TuneIn playback requires no login or account setup.
      • Deezer – Deezer requires an account setup and linking the service to your Alexa account.

      These audio services will work with your Sideline Elite ABI Fireplace once you've connected the Fireplace to your Alexa account and your Internet connection is at least 512 Kbps (0.51 Mbps). 

      At this time Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and all other audio platforms are not supported. 

      How to turn off Alexa Service on your Sideline Elite ABI 

      Your Sideline Elite ABI is delivered to you with the Alexa service active and on. You will need to pair the fireplace to your Alexa account via the Touchstone App to use the Alexa service.  

      If you would like to turn off the Alexa service, you have two options: 

      1. A short press to the “No Microphone button” will enable silent mode. The mute indicator is turned on (red) when enabled. You cannot wake up Alexa from this mode. A short press of this button will exit this mode.

      2. Inside the Touchstone App, open Sideline Elite ABI fireplace, touch the Alexa button at the top of the controls of the fireplace, then from this Alexa page “Sign out with Amazon”. This will disconnect the fireplace from the Alexa app and make the Alexa service non-functional.
