What do a pro golfer and a foodie influencer have in common? Both have appetites for taking first-time swings at electric fireplace accent wall DIY projects. Foodie Ashley @misterfeedyourgirl and LPGA golfer Dana @danafallgolf both transform their living rooms with Touchstone Sideline Elite® Smart Electric Fireplaces. Both found project inspiration from other Touchstone electric fireplace projects. And both first-time DIYers add built-in cabinetry to their fireplace surrounds.
Ashley @misterfeedyourgirl opted for a rustic vertical slat media wall featuring the 50-inch Touchstone Sideline Elite Electric Fireplace 80036 with shelving, TV with backlighting, and wood mantel.
Ashley shares, “We built a whole fireplace using pressure-treated wood, soundproof wood paneling, the amazing Touchstone fireplace insert, and some Billy bookcases from IKEA."
While researching electric fireplace accent walls, Ashley discovered building plans by fellow DIYer @oliveandoakhome. “I noticed another user finished a project with this unit, and after looking into it, I was really drawn to its size, how flush it is once installed, and knew it would be a stunning addition to my space", Ashley explains.

Dana @danafallgolf is inspirational proof that you can juggle a pro athlete schedule, pregnancy and do-it-yourself projects She is an accomplished LPGA golfer by career, while also being a content creator with a passion for building home upgrades.
“I started with smaller DIY home improvement projects over the years, and as my skills and confidence grew, I began taking on bigger projects,” Dana shares. “Now, I would consider myself pretty capable of handling most home upgrades myself and really enjoy transforming spaces in a creative and practical way.”
“We moved into our new build home about a year and a half ago, and I knew right away that the large blank white wall in our living room was the perfect place for a custom fireplace built-in. I had been following Chris from @accentwalldesigns on Instagram, and his professional fireplace accent wall projects gave me a lot of inspiration.”

Chris, owner of Accent Wall Designs, is an Arizona-based builder, who frequently uses Touchstone Electric Fireplaces in his business. He is well known in the greater Scottsdale area for creating stunning fireplace media walls. Following Chris’s lead, Dana sought to do the same in her home.
“Our goal was to take a standard builder-grade wall and turn it into a true focal point for the living room. We wanted to incorporate storage with cabinets and shelving for photos and decor, while also creating a warm, inviting centerpiece with a beautiful Touchstone electric fireplace", Dana explains.
For her project, Dana chose the 60-inch Touchstone Sideline Elite Outdoor Smart Electric Fireplace 80049. The outdoor model is the same as the Sideline Elite 60 model 80037, minus the heater and heat vents.
Dana details, “We wanted a no heat option since we live in Phoenix, and don’t need that extra heat most of the year. I chose the Touchstone® brand because I wanted a fireplace that looked high-end and custom but also user- and install-friendly for a DIY project.”
Following Chris' lead, Dana built a frame with 2x4s and used drywall for the build-out. To create the faux concrete surface, Dana mixed drywall compound with paint. The built-in cabinets, floating shelves and mantel add the finishing touches.
“I think my favorite features are the sleek, built-in look that helps give it that custom feel. I also love the multiple color flame options and how much ambiance it adds, even without heat.”
“The final result completely transformed the space and made the living room feel much more finished.”
