Designer Spotlight: Reset Home Kansas City Creates Warm Modern Spaces with Touchstone Electric Fireplaces

Known for creating warm and modern spaces, Kansas City interior design company Reset Home chooses Touchstone Electric Fireplaces for many of their projects. Reset Home designer Molly Cody recently elevated a living room and an outdoor space with Touchstone Sideline® and Sideline Elite® Smart Electric Fireplaces. Molly specializes in furnishing and cosmetic remodels, mainly partnering with high-end builders. She works locally in the Johnson County, Missouri area, as well as virtually with clients from coast to coast.

Open Plan Living Room Transformation

Molly’s goal was to design a focal point in her client’s living room with a large tile fireplace wall. She combined the Sideline® 84 inch Smart Electric Fireplace and 84 inch Encase® Unfinished Floating Shelf Mantel with a large screen TV above and shelves on the side.

Molly explains, “The scale of this one is incredible. My clients were thrilled to be able to have a large TV above without worrying if it would overpower the fireplace. We also used a Touchstone mantel here and the combo was perfect for their style. We especially love the natural wood look and soft glow on this one since the goal was more of a cozy, welcoming home feel in this space.”

To blend the open plan areas together, Molly stained the Unfinished Encase Mantel to match the kitchen cabinets and living room shelving. The 84-inch mantel, paired with an electric fireplace of equal length adds symmetry and balance to the space. 

Another Touchstone Fireplace Project: Cozy Indoor - Outdoor Living Space

At another home in the greater Kansas City area, Molly envisioned true indoor-outdoor living, where the living room accordion doors open to the screened-in patio, and the motorized patio screen opens to the pool. The addition of the Sideline Elite® 60 Smart Outdoor Electric Fireplace enhances the cozy outside living space and sets the mood. “Every detail was chosen to make every square foot count, inside and out,” Molly explains.

“We made this space feel lounge-y and lived-in… We used an exterior stone to tie in elements from the exterior of their home and help create a flow from front to back,” Molly details. “They really wanted their patio to be another true living space. They mounted a giant TV and invested in some great furniture, so they can be cozy out there most of the Midwest year. Obviously, the fireplace was an important part of that project and a focal point in the space.”

“There are so many bulky looking electric fireplaces on the market, and this really gives the shape of a modern gas option without the price tag. The design of this home is pretty modern, so the different flame color options are a nice value add as well.”
