Hands-on Learning: Students Install a Touchstone SRV TV Lift

With a focus on giving back to the community, the team at Touchstone Home Products recently donated an SRV TV Lift Mechanism to the BOCES2 Career and Technical Education School in New York. The students built a custom TV lift cabinet for their classroom and installed the Touchstone retractable, motorized TV lift.

Building a Custom TV Lift Cabinet in the Classroom

Honing their building and technical skills, the BOCES2 students built a TV lift cabinet in their classroom and mounted the Touchstone SRV TV lift mechanism in the cabinet. 

Learning By Doing

At the BOCES2 Career and Technical School, students gain technical experience through hands-on learning. The high school students planned, designed and built the custom TV lift cabinet.

Installing the TV Mounting Brackets

The students appreciated the ease of installation with Touchstone's Universal Quick Connect TV lift mounting system. They added the TV mounting brackets to the back of the TV and attached to the SRV TV lift mechanism.

Developing Problem-Solving Skills

Career and Technical Education (CTE) blends real-life experience with technology. A large screen TV / monitor is essential in the classroom, providing access to video instruction, online access and video conferencing. But, when it's time to bring out the tools and supplies for interactive projects, the TV can get in the way. The students identified this challenge and sourced the Touchstone SRV TV lift to solve this classroom design dilemma. 

Mission Accomplished

The students finished the custom built TV lift cabinet and added a lid to conceal the large flat screen when it is not in use. Teacher Mark Chase shares "Having the screen retract into the cabinet is awesome. The kids were fascinated by action of the lift. This is a great product and we thank you over and over. It’s making life easier for me as well. I can keep an eye on the 40 afternoon juniors when the screen is down and the lesson is over."
