How To Frame a Recessed Electric Fireplace

This framing technique is a relatively easy project and adds a unique, custom look to your Touchstone electric fireplace. Once you’ve inserted or attached the electric fireplace to the wall, you can frame it like artwork. You can use reclaimed wood, leftover wall trim, or other framing materials to create a border around the fireplace.

Touchstone electric fireplaces include faux logs and crystals so you can create your own unique look to match your space. Pair the faux log flame base with driftwood for a beach house style – or accent the crystal flame base with white trim for a ultra modern look.

Simple Solution For Installing In a 2 x 4 Wall

The framed recessed electric fireplace installation is also a simple solution for installing the fireplace in a standard 2 x 4 wall. Like most recessed electric fireplaces, the Sideline Electric Fireplace Series is slightly deeper than a 2 x 4 wall. For those inserting the 5.25-inch deep Sideline directly into the 4 inch space, the fireplace frame will sit about an inch from the bare wall. This 1-inch difference isn't really noticeable and the fireplace looks like it is flush with the wall. Many choose to install the fireplace into a faux stone wall, wood paneled wall or bump out wall, which adds thickness for a flush mount installation. For those who are installing the fireplace in a 2 x 4 bare wall, or mounting directly on the wall (not recessing), a wood or metal frame around the fireplace sits flush with the fireplace and adds personalized style.
